Black Friday Survey 2015

Couponbox.com recently conducted a survey of 1,345 consumer across the US, asking about their holiday shopping plans for 2015. The survey results provide an intriguing and sometimes surprising insight into American’s plans for Black Friday and Christmas shopping.

More than 60 Percent of Consumers Plan to Shop Christmas Deals Online

On Black Friday and Cyber Monday, only 23.5 percent plan to shop at a local brick-and-mortar store. 31 percent said they plan to stick to shopping online.

Young People Are Far More Likely to Shop Black Friday Sales (Online or Offline)

37 percent of 18-24 year olds plan to shop local Black Friday sales. 40 percent of 18-24 year olds plan to shop online. Compare that with the much lower 10 percent of 65+ year olds who will shop local sales and 20 percent who plan to shop online.

However, fewer 18-24 year olds are planning to shop online than 25-64 year olds.

Shopping Online Isn’t for Everyone

The following data shows the percentage of each age group that does not plan to do their Christmas shopping online in 2015:

  • 18-24: 45%
  • 25-34: 32.1%
  • 35-44: 32%
  • 45-54: 36.1%
  • 55-64: 40.6%
  • 65: 62.4%
