The Samsung Gear Fit 2 does almost everything that the others do, but its versatility comes with a limitation. It is not compatible with as many devices. Still, it is perfect for anyone with a recent Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

The Apple Watch is also limited to users of Mac or iPhone products. For those that are die-hard Apple users, there is no better wearable available. Its popularity makes it compatible with dozens of third-party applications and makes interfacing between them and all Apple products virtually seamless.

Garmin’s Vivosmart HR + GPS comes close to Samsung’s Gear Fit 2 and the Apple Watch in terms of functionality and even has some unique features. Very few wearables actually have an altimeter to measure how high you climb, opening up fitness tracking possibilities for more sports than the most models.

It also has the best waterproof rating of all the models we surveyed.
