It’s that wonderful time of the year again!
But perhaps it’s not the most wonderful when it comes to choosing the right gifts to buy.
Christmas shopping can be overwhelming and stressful at times, so if your shopping list is still empty then this is definitely for you.
Let’s start off with covering the basics:
It’s always a good idea to set a total budget in mind, make a priority list of the people you want to buy a gift for and needless to say, keep an eye on deals and discounts that will help you save money and keep some of that budget for yourself.
Now comes the real work. The hardest part of Christmas shopping is choosing the right gifts and let’s face it, we all want to avoid last-minute mundane gift ideas. To take away some of your holiday stress, we’ve put together some of this year’s most trending and hottest items to guide you through your gift quest.
1. Snapchat Spectacles
Topping our list is the latest craze to hit the US: the Snapchat Spectacles. Snapchat took their game to a whole new level with these sunglasses that let you shoot first-person, wide-angle video and share it with the world.
The Spectacles are selling for $130, but the tricky part is how to get your hands on a pair. One way to buy them is through Snapchat’s Snapbot vending machines that pop up every 48 hours in different places around the US. You can track their location here if you’re in the mood for a little road trip.
Another way to get the Spectacles is at Snapchat’s only pop-up store in New York, but beware of the long very long lines. And if you believe that a snap is worth a $1,000 (or a little more), you can buy them on eBay.
2. Nintendo Entertainment System: Classic Edition
This is probably the best news for gamers: Nintendo is bringing retro back by releasing a mini version of the NES Classic Edition preloaded with 30 classic games such as Super Mario Bros., PAC-MAN and more. An ultimate gift for die-hard Nintendo fans, you can buy one at Toys R Us for $60 – if you’re lucky enough to find it in stock.
3. Hatchimal Draggles
Wondering which came first, the Hatchimal or the egg? Hatchimal Draggles are definitely one of this year’s must-have toys that kids will love.
Dubbed “real-life Tamagochi,” Hatchimals are cute little interactive creatures that hatch out of their egg after rubbing it for around 30 minutes. The Hatchimals acquire new skills like walking and talking as kids take care of them. Available in limited quantities at Toys R Us or Target for around $60.
The drone craze took off in 2015, but their popularity just keeps on soaring.
Fingerhut has drones available in a wide spectrum of different shapes, sizes and prices: from basic indoor mini drones to high-tech professional drones with GPS, self-stabilization and 4K video cams on board. if A bit of research is recommended to learn about the different specs before grabbing one for your “drone-thusiast” friend.
5. Fitness Trackers
We all have a friend or relative who’s a fitness freak, so a fitness tracker is a great gift to complement their lifestyle (trust us, it will come in handy to get back on track post-holiday indulgence).
There are hundreds of trackers out there with different features and price tags, but we’ve already found the best wearables for you and your pocket so that the wearable search doesn’t wear you out.
Bonus Item: Mermaid Blankets
We just had to end our Christmas shopping list with this one. Mermaid Blankets are the coolest thing we’ve seen when it comes to cozy throws! Slip into the world of Ariel the mermaid with these must-haves and choose your tail on Groupon.
