Survey shows that Utah is the most beautiful U.S. state

The United States has 3.7 million square miles of land area.

131,250 square miles of that is designated as part of the national park system, which consists of 401 parks.

That’s only about 3.5 percent of the country’s total area!

It should be more, since much more than 3.5 percent of the country’s natural beauty is worthy of preservation.

The natural beauty of the United States should be available to enjoy for everyone, which is why the national parks were created 145 years ago in 1872.

However, this list is not just a list of national parks. Instead, it is a survey of the internet’s most popular landscapes in America.

To determine this list, we informally surveyed more than 30 travel sites and took the number one entry from each site to compile our own list, without repetition.

Only 18 states made the cut.

We also created a ranking of the most beautiful states by counting how many times each state occurred on our list and then dividing those counts by the total number of states to come up with a percentage.

According to the survey, Utah is number one, with 18 percent.

It was closely followed by Arizona, (15%) and Alabama (12%).

[Two entries, The Blue Ridge Parkway and the Wasatch Mountains, contained two states, so there are more states than entries.]
